Week 14

Dear Parents

Happy Thanksgiving! I have put the newsletter for the week at the bottom of the page. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to have me post to the blog and I will do my best to have it up here. Thanks!

I hope that you all enjoy your Thanksgiving and take the time to be thankful for the many blessings we have received. Not every blessing seems like a blessing at the time, but I hope that you are able to take the time to find the good in every situation and teach your child during this season how to be thankful no matter what we are going through in life. We all have challenges we face in life. How you face those challenges determines whether you are someone easily defeated by life, or you are an over-comer. You can either sit at the base of the mountain and worry about how big it is and how you can’t climb it, or you can find a way to get over it. The choice is up to you.

Happy Thanksgiving and I look forward to seeing the students next week!

Native American Study Guide

Hey All!

The study guide for the Native American test will be going home tomorrow, but just in case it doesn’t make it home, I have posted one here. Hope it helps! Don’t forget, this week the students will be taking a quiz on the Powhatan Indians. We will not have talked about Transportation just yet, but students should go ahead and study all the different aspects of the Powhatan culture. Focus on the charts for the quiz. Happy studying!

Homework for the Week of 11/14

Hey All!

I have attached the spelling list, choice board, and reading log for the week. I have noticed that several of the students are not turning in their reading logs and spelling journals at the end of the week, so I figure this might save you the trouble of waiting for the homework to come home the next day. If you are not able to download the documents, please let me know so I can fix the links. The students should know which spelling group they belong in. The lists are color coded in the document.

Have a great week!

Math Fact Practice Websites

If you would like to help your child practice their math facts online, below is a list of places that can really help out your child! Please let me know if you have any problems accessing any of the sites. When I find more sites that seem interesting and productive, I will link them to the page.

Hello Parents and Students!

Welcome to second grade! I am very excited to be teaching here at BGE this year! The purpose of the blog will be to post upcoming events and other items. Homework can be found in your child’s agenda, or you can email me if you don’t understand an assignment as the blog will not be updated daily with homework. If you have any questions or concerns about how your child is doing in class, please feel free to email me. You can find my email at the bottom of the weekly newsletter. I know it’s going to be a great year!
