Week 37

Dear Parents

We are coming down to the last few weeks of school! This week we are going to be focusing on test taking skills as we are quickly approaching our second grade benchmark testing. We will be testing on May 17, 18, and 19. Please do your best to have your child at school on those days as that is the week right before school is out for the summer. The following week we will be doing fun end of the year activities so I don’t want your child to miss out!

This week we will not have a spelling test as we will be spending a lot of time preparing for benchmark testing. We do still have math homework and reading logs. If your child has any extra homework passes, they will want to use them up soon!

I hope that everyone has a great week. 13 DAYS TO GO!

Week 36?

Dear Parents

So all of my spelling assignments for the week say Week 35…apparently I don’t know which week it is anymore haha. They should say week 36, but they are still the current lists and assignments.

I was not at school today so if your child did not bring home his/her spelling journal, that may be the reason. I have put the list and spelling homework below. I have also attached the reading log. If for some reason your child does not have a reading log, you can always print one from the blog and change the dates 🙂

This week is SOL testing for the 3rd grade students. Please make sure to talk to your child about the importance of being extra quiet in the halls during testing. 2nd grade teachers will be proctoring the exams for the 3rd grade teachers so my aide will be in the classroom during the morning on May 4 – 5 and May 11. I will be leaving the classroom at 8:30 so if your child normally comes after that time, please remind him/her to give any notes to my aide. If you have a note that you would like me to see that day, it is best to email me about it. If you have any questions about this, please contact me.

I hope that everyone has a great week!

Week 35

Hello, All!

With the copy machine still on strike, I am putting my newsletters online. I did send home a reading log this week though. Please continue working with your child on reading skills. The math homework for this week is pages 63 and 64. If your child did not bring this home, please email me and let me know. By this point in the year, students need to be able to take out their own homework and bring home their mail. I do not remind them in class to do this every day as being organized with school work is a skill students need to master in third grade.

This week we are going to be focusing on STAR testing for reading and math and I will be assessing everyone’s reading level. Please remind students that during testing times, it is important to be respectful and quiet to help their peers focus on doing their best.

In math we are continuing to work on counting money. In reading we are working on drawing conclusions. In science we are continuing our unit on plants. There will be no spelling this week due to field day on Thursday and our field trip on Friday.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Week 31

Dear Parents

Sorry about missing last week and this week! Hopefully everyone was able to get what they needed. Here is the homework for this week. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. As always, be checking your child’s folder for math pages. I don’t post those on the blog due to copyright laws, but if your child is missing their math page, please let me know. I will send home a page from the math textbook to make up for the missing homework page.

Thanks! Have a great week!

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Here is the homework for the week and the newsletter.

Page 49 is the math homework for this week. Your child is responsible for pulling it out at school and taking it home. Please let me know if the homework isn’t in the binder.

I will be sending home a study guide for the science quiz this week. If all goes to plan, we will have a quiz on our weather terms we have learned and types of weather on Friday.

Have a great week!

Week 25

Dear Parents

Thanks for your patience with the copier and other things this semester. I have sent home a hard copy of the newsletter, but just in case it doesn’t make it, it is here on the blog. I have also attached a study guide for the Egypt/China test that we will be taking this Friday. Please make sure to review over the study guide with your child. There aren’t many grades for history and science, so tests can really hurt their grade if students don’t study.

Make sure to please send your child’s interim back to school if you have not done so already and schedule a time for a conference if you would like to have one. I will be sending home conference confirmation slips very soon. Please check your child’s agenda for your conference time.

I hope you have a great week!
